Artist Vince Skelly will show how he uses carving tools to refine the form of his sculptures. This is the second phase that occurs after the wood has been roughed out with a chainsaw. Vince will walk through his process covering each phase from the raw to finished piece. Vince will focus on the use of the carving tools that he uses; gouges, files, and chisels.
About the Artist
Vince Skelly is a self-taught wood sculptor from Portland, Oregon. He works with found and
selective chunks of wood that grow in the Pacific Northwest. His process starts with using a chainsaw to rough out the wood, followed by using various hand tools to refine the form. The end product is fine art that you can interact with and use.
