Golden Crane Society Opening Reception

Gifts from Japan: A Horticultural Tale Told through Botanical Art

Golden Crane Recognition Society Members are invited to the opening reception of the new Pavilion art exhibition: Gifts from Japan.

Enjoy a special preview of this botanical art exhibition that illuminates the flora of Japan and how it has influenced the way we experience gardens in America.

Featuring artwork by Akiko Enokido from the Yokohama Nursery catalog, courtesy of Huntington Library, Museum, and Botanical Gardens and the Sokaen Bunko Collection.

While highlighting the Japanese and Japanese American journey in shaping American floriculture, the exhibition presents a window into Japan’s long tradition of plant appreciation, its modernization, and propagation abroad.

Refreshments and hors d’oeurvres will be served.

Please RSVP by Friday, May 6 to Lindsey Coates at (503) 542-0287 or lcoates@japanesegarden.org.

Portland Japanese Garden is requiring all guests attending this reception to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 by May 13th. Please email us a copy of your vaccination card and photo ID, or bring both items with you to present at check-in.
