Join us for a bonsai presentation by Jeffrey Robson at the Cathy Rudd Cultural Corner in the Jordan Schnitzer Japanese Arts Learning Center from 1:15 – 2:15pm. Bonsai, literal translation tree-in-a-tray, is the art and science of miniature trees.
Jeffrey Robson has always been intrigued by traditional Japanese art forms such as bonsai, suiseki (viewing stones) and ikebana. He is a member of the Bonsai Society of Portland and has given demonstrations to its members as well as Portland Japanese Garden volunteers. Three of Jeffrey’s suiseki were featured in Portland Japanese Garden’s most recent art exhibition, Designing Nature: Elements of Harmony. He recently achieved the rank of Kakan, Assistant Professor 2nd Grade in the Ikenobo School of Ikebana.
Portland Japanese Garden would like to thank James F. and Marion L. The Miller Foundation and Oregon Arts Commission for their support of arts and culture programming.
