Many employers want to support the causes their employees care about — and that’s where Volunteer Grant Programs (also known as volunteer matching) and Volunteer Time Off (VTO) come in. These programs make it easier for employees to give back, with company support through both time and donations.

  • Volunteer Grant Programs: Some companies make monetary donations to nonprofits based on the number of hours their employees volunteer.
  • VTO (Volunteer Time Off): Companies may offer paid time off specifically for volunteering. Rather than using personal time, employees receive paid hours to give back to their communities.

We encourage all Portland Japanese Garden volunteers to check with their employers to see if they offer one of these programs.

Why It Matters

These programs not only benefit Portland Japanese Garden but also amplify the impact of your time and effort. Every hour you volunteer could mean additional support for our programs and the maintenance of our garden spaces.
