Mindfulness Week
Event Information
In recognition of World Mindfulness Day on Saturday, September 12, join us for a week of programs exploring the practice of slowing down, paying attention, and embracing the present moment. Whether you’re seeking quiet, joy, inspiration, or simply a moment to pause, the Garden offers space to reconnect in your own way.

Let Your Senses Guide You: The Science of Mindfulness in the Garden
September 11, 2026 | 1:15 PM - 2:30 PM
This engaging presentation by Cecily Hunt and Steve Bayer, volunteers at Portland Japanese Garden, will provide simple ways to cultivate mindfulness through immersing yourself in the rhythms of the Garden.
Local ikebana artists from various schools, or styles, will create arrangements featuring chrysanthemums.
Join us for an ikebana presentation by Nana Bellerud from the Sogetsu School of Ikebana in the Jordan Schnitzer Japanese Arts Learning Center.
This member-exclusive tour focuses not on meditation, but instead on learning to bring mindful awareness to oneself, and the world around us, through intentional observation and connections.
