Cultural Demonstration: Ikebana

Vertical Ikebana Arrangement by Linda Nishioka, Ohara School of Ikebana

Ikebana, the Japanese art of flower arranging, has been translated as “living flowers” or “giving life to flowers.” Join us from 1:15-2:15pm for an ikebana presentation by Linda Nishioka from the Ohara School of Ikebana in the Jordan Schnitzer Japanese Arts Learning Center.

About Linda Nishioka

Linda Nishioka is the Vice President of the Ohara School of Ikebana Oregon Chapter, a certified instructor, and an active North American Ohara Teachers Association and Ikebana International member. She earned her instructor certification in November 2022 and teaches monthly classes in Salem, Oregon. Linda also has a background in Japanese Tea Ceremony, which she studied for a couple of years in the early 1980s. Her husband is Sansei, a third-generation Japanese American.
