Sunset Magazine, now celebrating its 125th anniversary, recently published their 2023 Sunset Travel Awards and named Portland Japanese Garden as a winner. In their “Best Nature Experiences” category, the organization was the only public garden listed, joined by jewels of the National Park Service. “Since 1963 this garden has attracted international visitors with its 12 tranquil acres of eight garden styles, a Japanese tea house, view of Mount Hood, year-round events, and its mission of peace and unity,” writes Sunset. “One of the most impressive examples of the art of Japanese landscape design and culture.”
“Portland Japanese Garden is honored to have been named as a recipient of a Travel Award from Sunset Magazine,” shares the organization’s Marketing Director, Megumi Kato. “This feels especially exciting to receive, given we’re celebrating our 60th anniversary this year. The Garden has offered a much-needed space of great serenity, beauty, and empathy for so many during our 60 years. As we continue to collectively elevate Portland as a destination, we’re grateful for the opportunities to highlight the many gems we have in our city. With a new art exhibition and fall colors on the horizon, Portland Japanese Garden looks forward to welcoming visitors from all around the world.”
