Fall Color Update: October 22, 2018

Few things are lovelier than the Garden ablaze with fall color. But when do the leaves actually start to change? Factors like temperature, light, and water ensure that the onset and duration of fall colors are difficult to predict perfectly.

Fall colors have finally arrived in earnest. Shades of yellow and orange pop against of backdrop of evergreens. Not every tree has turned, however. There are a few deciduous trees holding out, while some of the earliest changers have already lost their leaves. Our famous Japanese Maple is half-changed, poised between its standard yellow-green and the red-orange it will shortly turn.
